This
partnership is considered by many to be
the best long distance family in Germany.
It consists of the father Heinz-Jozef
and his two sons namely Dirk and Heiko.
The sport of pigeon racing has been a
part of the Freialdenhofen family for
approximately 50 years. Following a decision
at the beginning of the 1990s to enter
the long distance events their first successes
began in 1994 and in the following year
1995 they won the National Long Distance
Championship for the first time. And since
then the partnership has remained at the
top where the distance is concerned.
Upon
deciding to concentrate upon the long
distances and to pursue their goal the
Freialdenhofen's went in search of the
right material for the job and where impressed
by the birds of Albert Simons of Maaseik
in Belgium. In fact they visited this
well known racer and through further contact
obtained some youngsters and eggs in about
1991. Thus was laid the basis of the partnership
tackling the distances. Other bloodlines
were obtained from Saya Bros of Maastricht,
one of which 'Joop' is one of their best
breeders today, and other birds from Yves
van de Poel and Buckley of Belgium. They
have also Theelen, van de Eynden, and
Kuyper Bros bloodlines via Dieter Tetz
of Julich- Welldorf, as well as the notable
bloodlines of Hans- Dieter Rass plus one
of their best breeders is a Vanbruaene
hen from Willy Mundt. Of course based
upon their commitment to the distances
they were still not satisfied so other
bloodlines were obtained from the Wijnand
Bros of Maastricht. Most of the latter
families were crossed resulting in outstanding
representatives of the marathon thoroughbred.
One
of their best products was a pigeon named
'Forrest Gump' who amongst other positions
won 1st National Euregio Marseille in
2001, 1st National Euregio Marseille 2002,
1st National Euregio Perpignan 2002, 4th
National Perpignan 2002, 29th International
Perpignan 2002, 15th National Pau 2003,
16th National Perpignan 2003. He also
bears a reputation as a breeder. Another
important pigeon amongst quite a few is
'Diana' who was 1st Ace Pigeon Hens International
(races) 2001 as well as scoring 29th International
Perpignan and 464th International Dax
in 2001. She has also bred good winners
including a 2nd National Bordeaux.
Other
fanciers both in Germany and Holland have
won Nationals with the Freialdenhofen
bloodlines and in one Barcelona International
the family scored 5 positions in the first
300 starting with 128th position and concluding
with 285th against 25,760 pigeons. Excellent
flying by any standard. They were also
1st International Marseille Euregio in
2004.
The
Freialdenhofen family of racing pigeons
are based upon some of the best European
bloodlines including via Simons the A
and L van der Wegen line of the Aarden
dynasty, one of the more productive sources
of the best long distance and marathon
type in the world today. Is it any wonder
then that this partnership is considered
the best in one of the most competitive
pigeon racing nations in our world.
