The
name of Marien Orgers of Hekelingen, Holland,
will be new to many readers in the sport of pigeon
racing but through this brief insight I hope to
introduce a specialist at races between 850 to
1175 kms. In fact many would consider this family
amongst the top of the Dutch fancy.
Determined
to do good, in fact more than good, our subject
purchased thebest of the European class distance
racer whichincluded the bloodlines of the well
known Aarden based BakkerBarendrecht and Cools
families plus the strain of Chris vander Velden
and the Batenburg vd Eijnden pigeons of AP Overwater.
Some interesting results of recent years: Montauban
(6,781 pigeons), 13in the race and 9 prizes: 51,
296, 348, 465, 593,779, 845, 1153 and 1154. Pau
(2,792 pigeons), 2 in the race 2 prizes:107 and
253. St Vincent (7,999 pigeons) 16 in the race
and 9 prizes: 568, 656, 683, 861, 1121,1197, 1288,

and 9 prices: 244, 263, 282, 552, 557, 665, 707,
734 and 1027. Bergerac (11,953 pigeons) 14 in
the race and 10 prizes: 11, 279, 1578, 1672, 1730,
1731, 1859, 2308, 2317 and 2552. Perpignan (7,195
pigeons) 14 in the race and 7 prizes: 70, 442,
568, 628, 663, 720 and 1567. Bordeaux (8,825 pigeons)
38, 96, 704, 817, etc. Also the family was 7th
best Barcelona pigeon for a 3 year period in Holland
as well as scoring 2nd in the Marathon Attracation
Zuid Beijerland Super Long Distance & 1st
Overall
Champion Long distance Club De Glazen Stad.
A
fine breeder is the Bakker Barendrecht cock bird
'261' who as a racer flew 12 times in overnight
racing and won 11 good prizes including 21st National
St Vincent. One of his daughters '950' is one
of the main foundation birds of the Orgers family.
Another productive pigeon is the 'Batenburg Hen'-
a granddaughter of
the famous 'Bonte Kweker' of Batenburg. Others
of note as producers are the 'Braakhuis Hen' and
the 'Blauwe Van der Velden'.
Some
of the top racers are '339' (de Fijne) which was
the winner of about 12 good prizes and was 54th
National Ace Pigeon in a table covering a period
of 5 years; '769' (de Vale Supercrack) a hen which
won 38th National from Bordeaux; '149' ( de Marseille
Hen) who won 14th Provincial Marseille and the
98th National
Bordeaux; '125' ( De Barcelona)- this hen has
the blood of the Aarden Cools pigeons of Jac Steketee.
She has won 8 good prizes in 8 races including
the 249th National, 402 National Barcelona in
recent years including being the 7th best Dutch
Barcelona pigeon for 3 years; '066' (de Bonte
66) is a daughter of the 950 and a grandson of
the 261 foundation cock, it won in 2001 288th
National Marseille and 277th National Perpignan.
Then in 2002 253rd National Pau and 810th National
Marseille.
Many
are the good results of this family and from a
sound basis it will become better known in the
new millennium. I await it's flowering with a
measure of expectation.
