About ...Me and my Pigeons
I emigrated to Canada in 1990 and at that time I was a member of Ballyclare and District HPS, I didnt think I would be in pigeons again but here we are, I am a member of a club called Limestone City Flyers, 14 members and very competitive.
We are a member club of the EASTERN ONTARIO COMBINE affiliated to the Canadian Racing Pigeon Union.I restarted in 2003 and have done fairly well in that time, I must mention my wife Marbeth who is a tremendous help around the loft, cleaning, feeding and watching them home from training tosses, I was a member of Ligoniel and District HPS way back when it was a nissen hut and call my loft Wolfhill Loft as anyone who knows the area will know Wolfhill!
The Pigeons
This is an old photo from 1994,thats me holding Blue Cock,I called Jay -El,he won the Combine from Temagami,I called him Jay -El after my late Grandfather John Luney. The other photo is my Grandfather circa 1967,they dont make lofts like that anymore,Thank goodness! He always said " you dont send the loft to the race".It took me 3 days to knock this down after he died!!

Last week from Cochrane,400 miles, only 4 day birds in club,Englehart,300 miles better returns, weather is very humid and hot, with pop up thunderstorms all over the place, pigeons in trailer since Thursday, then up on Saturday, cant be good for them sitting in the heat for 2 days!!,maybe they are dehydrated??.Time for a rethink as far as I am concerned.
News
Young birds are training well,I have both older and younger birds training every day possible ,with a day off twice a week, just to let them recoup after flying in all the humidity we have been having lately.Weekend is to be a lot cooler so they will be taken to the longest point I train from for at least 3 tosses then I intend to get them up to 150 miles at least twice to give them some experience. So far havent lost any ,but the hawk hit one and I had to put it down as it was pretty bad. Our club is doing well in the Combine this young bird season, with a few more races left one our guys could win the average and champion loft.Heading up to Brighton for Jim McInnes EMPIRE CLASSIC ONE LOFT RACE this Sunday!
Tips ...
Have vaccinated all my birds for PARAMYXOVIRUS,treated them with a herbal product from BOB KOCH see how it works, then on to vitamins and probiotics, treat with 4 in 1 then again probiotics and vitamins. After all treatments I put them on Pro-biotics for 5 days.Birds are looking great,so lets hope they stay like that.Next thing on the list is mating the stock birds.I have 8 pair and have brought in a couple of Smeulders hens to cross into the birds I have which are mainly Meulemans X Jansenns.
