Fermoy 5B, Penx & OB Classic - 8th & 26th June 24

Post by willie reynolds »

JOURNEY’S END - N.I.P.A NOTES – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G

This week of Racing seen another action packed weekend seeing a closure on the Inland Racing with
the Annual Penzance/Penzance Classic Race being flown as a duplicated race on the same day as the
last Inland race from Fermoy in Co. Cork. This two Races went ahead as scheduled in the Programme
on Saturday the 22 nd of June.

First up in my Report is the Fermoy 5 Race. A total of 274 Members sent 3,492 Birds to Fermoy in
County Cork for the Last Inland Race of the N.I.P.A. Old Bird Season. The Birds were liberated at
7:30AM in a Southerly Wind at the liberation point.

DOUBLE OPEN DELIGHT FOR CIARAN MCVEIGH FROM FERMOY
The Winning Bird from the Final N.I.P.A. Old Bird Inland Race belongs to C. McVeigh Son & Dtr of
Eastway H.P.S in Section C.
Many Congratulations to Ciaran McVeigh Son & Dtr on claiming 1 st & 2 nd N.I.P.A. Open from the last
N.I.P.A. Old Bird Inland Race of the Season.

The N.I.P.A. Fermoy 5 1 st Open Winning Bird from 3,492 Birds has been named as ‘Junior’ after
Ciaran’s Uncle Robert Kennedy who was a very big influence along with his late father Bobby in his
upbringing with Pigeons. He is a 2 Year Old Blue Cock and is down off his direct Mike Ganus pigeons.
His Father is a full brother to ‘Said in Spun Silver’. He only had a handful of races as last year as a
yearling he came back from training ripped to pieces. He was then stitched up and he went back on
the road again this year and was very consistent. He was 1 st Club Whitehouse H.P.S. and 7 th
Skibbereen Old Bird Derby in the Ulster Federation. He didn’t go to any channel races, so he had a
couple weeks off before Winning the Fermoy 5 Open.
The 2 nd Open Winning Pigeon is a grandson of ‘Olympic Poot’ who is a bit of a character who likes to
do a lap of the house when he arrives to let you know he’s home. Ciaran would like to thank Kevin &
Kristopher Rooney for always being there with good advice whenever I need it and a good shouting
at from Kevin when I need it also.

Ciarans Family of Ganus Pigeons have played there part for not just him but for others. J&D Braniff
was 2 nd Open with a dtr of his hen from France and Fleming Brothers also have a very good daughter
of her who also topped the Section in the N.I.P.A. this season plus many others.
Also, Many Congratulations to 3 rd Open Bingham & Seaton of Ligoniel & District H.P.S. in Section C.
That’s a great concession of Races from the channel with fanciers getting their experience under the
wing with many being prepared for the French Calendar at the end of June.
