Larne Monster Show -
The Annual Monster Show held in the East Antrim town of Larne had just short of 400 birds penned for the team of judges who had travelled down from Hillsborough & Maze and Belfast. It was a new venture as far as the hosts Larne & District were concerned with Chairman Allister McNaghten assisted by Secretary Stephanie O’Neill, MC Mark McCormick and Auctioneer Joe McLoughlin.
Its congratulations to visitors from Donaghcloney with Alwyn Neill collection Best in Show and Timmy Mawhinney Best Opposite Sex on this occasion. The winner for Alwyn had won BOS before while the Mawhinney Bird has previously won BIS here and other top awards at Dublin & Blackpool Shows. Alwyn Neill had 1st in both Old Hens and Young Cocks, T & K Mawhinney were 1st in Old Cock, Owen O’Neill & Son from Glenarm & Dist had 1st in Young Hens, Russell Bros from Cullybackey had 1st in Old Bird Eye-sign and R Mills & Son were to win the lone 1st for the host club in Young Bird Eye-sign. Cullybackey HPS: Continue on a Saturday evening and the latest classes were for Old Cock Handled and Late Breds judged by Roy Balmer and George Price from Harryville. Gibson & Dickey had the Red Card in Old Cocks lifting BIS with a Hartog that had won twice from 250 miles, and the winner in the Late Breds was Brian Herbison from the Feed Store at Carniny. Over the last two weeks Rasharkin & Dist held their now Annual 3 in 1 Shows for Old Birds and Young Birds, lots of birds were on show from local lofts and a number of visitors. Overall Show Trophy was won by Harold Cubitt.

Ballymena & District: Continue each Monday evening penning between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. Latest classes were Old Pairs and YB Fancy T/W, judges travelled in from Kells & Dist secretary Mervyn Gregg and Highest Prize-winner Jeff Surgenor. MDC Magill took the Red Card in the Fancy with a Blue Pied Busschaert while W & N Gilbert had 1st in Old Pairs and BIS. The hen penned here was winning for the third time this season. Cullybackey HPS: Continue on a Saturday evening and the latest classes were for Old Cock Handled and Late Breds judged by Roy Balmer and George Price from Harryville. Gibson & Dickey had the Red Card in Old Cocks lifting BIS with a Hartog that had won twice from 250 miles, and the winner in the Late Breds was Brian Herbison from the Feed Store at Carniny. Over the last two weeks Rasharkin & Dist held their now Annual 3 in 1 Shows for Old Birds and Young Birds, lots of birds were on show from local lofts and a number of visitors. Overall Show Trophy was won by Harold Cubitt.
