IHUNFC News.
The IHUNFC held their first Channel race of the season from Dale on Saturday 31st May, a brave decision by the race controller given the forcast for the weenend and the decisions of other organisations not to travel, so well done to all concerned. Also a big thank you to the ISRF for the transporration of the birds, well done to the convoyer's, as the birds returned in great condition.
After a short delay, the bitds were liberated at 12 Noon on the Saturday.
Winning 1st Sect "B" 1st Open was the partnership of
P & S McDermot of the Bray Invitation club. Their winner was bred down from Jannsen bloodlines supplied by Derek McDermot when paired to a latebred Busschart hen whose Dam had already won 1st club 40th Open from Talbenny for the partnership in 2018. These are the birds that the partnership have been clocking off the channel over the past few year and have become a very reliable family of birds for the Lads. Winning Velocity 1721ypm.
Winning 2nd Sect "B" 5th Open is Harris Bros of the Bray Invitation club, they clocked their two year old cheq hen on a velocity of 1686ypm.
Winning 3rd Sect "B" 6th Open is Hugh Egan another member of the Bray Invitation, his 2yo Blue cock making a velocity of 1684ypm.à
Winning 1st Sect "A" 2nd Open was G & P o Dowd
of the Sallynoggin HPS. Their winning pigeon, a two year old blue cheq cock doing 1719ypm.
Winning 2nd Sect "A" 3rd Open was
Ray Mathews & Family of the Sallynoggin HPS, their winner, a three year old Blue cock on 1714ypm.
Winning 3rd Sect "A" 4th Open was again
G & P o Dowd, clocking a second bird, a 3yo Black cock within two minutes of theirvfirst arrival,
on a Velocity of 1688ypm.
Winning 1st Sect "C" 68th Open is Derek McClean of the Newbridge club, Dereks bird is a 3yo cheq of the Deweert strain brought in for distance racing as opposed to his usual team of Herman Cuester pigeons. Derek is a former winner of first Open with the IHUNFC when he won the Wadebridge National way back in 2004. His winner this week was on a velocity of 1312ypm.
Winning 2nd Sect "C" 95th Open is the partnership of Corcoran & Keegan of the Barrow Valley RPC in Carlow, they clocked a two year old Black cock on 1147ypm, this fella placed well enough to win the section single bird Nom and followed closely by their good White cock which will rake 6th Sect "C" on a velocity of 1017ypm.
Winning 3rd Sect "C" is Leon Gaffney of the Naas RPC with a five year old Blue hen, leon is no stranger to the winners enclosure having won the IHUNFC on a couple of occasions previously, and is always at or near the top in these National competitions. Vel 1132ypm
Winning 1st Sect "D" 136th Open is Scott Lee away down there in Cork with a yearling Hen on a velocity of 723ypm, reflecting the difficulty of the race for members of the IHUNFC in that part of the country.
Winning 2nd Sect "D" 137th Open with only one yard per minute between them,
is James (Bim) Connors of the Tower Invitation club in Waterford, James enjoys his channel racing and is nevee far away, espwcially when the going is tough for the birds. Vel 722ypm.
Winning 3rd Section "D" is Pat Carey down in Mallow, his bird, a two year old blue cock making a velocity of 712ypm, yet again showing the tenacity of the birds sent from the Cork members.
The race overall was a successful race with most members clocking in good time, several members had double arrivals, with two in particular, Tony Boyle in East Wall and P Byrne & Sons in Sallynoggin recording three arrivals together at both lofts, so well done to them.
Scott Lee in Cork clocking 5 from 8 in a difficult race for members from Cirk.
Next race is

Penzance on 21/05/25 +
Penzance Yearling National same day.
ans finally
