New NIPA Press Officer – I would like to inform everyone that I have been newly elected as Press Officer for the NIPA and will be covering Sections C, D, F and G in the NIPA in this forthcoming season 2024. I kindly ask for all the Club Secretaries or race Secretaries within these sections to get in contact with me highlighting their club and contact details for the future publication of results, loft reports and any other information for publication. JOURNEY’S END - N.I.P.A NOTES – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G

‘7 HEAVEN’ FOR OWEN MARKEY

Another week another double header for the N.I.P.A. members. The annual 5 Bird Championship
Race along with the second Dale Channel Race. This year seen a different race point being used in
Corrin to the normal Fermoy, but they are in relatively the same area in Co. Cork. Up first is the
Corrin Race with the 5 Bird Championship being held within the Race itself. Saturday was the
Racemarking for the 5 Bird Limit Championship & Corrin Race. A total of 374 Members sent 5,843
Birds to Corrin in County Cork with 215 Members nominating 987 Birds in the 5 Bird Championship.
The Birds were liberated at 07:30AM in a West/Southwest Wind.

The Open Winning Bird from the seventh Inland Old Bird Race of the 2025 Season belongs to Owen
Markey of Ballyholland H.P.S in Section G.
Owen’s Corrin 1 st Open Winner GB24 B 20718 has been named ‘Hollywood Oscar’ The newly
crowned Open Winner is a son of "Inbound Oscar" 1 st Open NIPA 17,233 Birds. Son of Moviestar 1 st
Open NIPA 20,042 x "97 Hen" now Dam & GDam to 4 x 1 st Open NIPA Winners.
Owen had a great team performance in Winning 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , 5 th , 6 th & 7 th N.I.P.A. Open
‘Electric Dreams’ & Too Hot for Toni’ arriving amongst the seven to Win 1 st & 2 nd Open NIPA Corrin 5
Bird.

N.I.P.A. Open from Corrin a phenomenal Result making it 4 1 st Open Wins so far in 2025.

Section INFC Skibbereen Old Bird National. 3 rd Open NIPA 9,245 Birds BBLM. And has now added 1 st
Open NIPA Corrin 5 Bird & 2 nd Open Corrin 5,062 Birds. She is bred from a son of ‘Moviestar’ x Full
Sister to ‘De Guss’ bred by Kevin & Kristopher Rooney. Dam is a daughter of ‘Junior Bond’ the 2x1st
Open NIPA Winner from the late and great Ron McKelvey.
Owen 2 nd Open Winner is ‘Too Hot for Toni’ who was a previous 1st Open NIPA Winner from
Grenagh 21,660 Birds. She is also a winner of 8th Open NIPA Roscrea 16,479 Birds. 78th Open NIPA
Roscrea 23,289 Birds

SECTION C REPORT
The Winner of Section C (34/767) from Corrin & Corrin 5 Bird (173 Birds) was J&D Braniff of Glen
H.P.S. Joe & David win their Club of Glen. They also add another 1 st & 2 nd Section winner to their
great season. (767 Birds) and Overall, in the N.I.P.A. Open they achieved a result of 16 th N.I.P.A. Open
(5,843 Birds)
